Wheat Kings
June 8, 2012 by
Sundown in the Paris of the prairies
Wheat kings have all their treasures buried
And all you hear are the rusty breezes
Pushing around the weather vane Jesus
In his Zippo lighter, he sees the killer’s face
Maybe it’s someone standing in a killer’s place
Twenty years for nothing, well that’s nothing new,
besides, No one’s interested in something you didn’t do
Wheat kings and pretty things,
let’s just see what the morning brings.
There’s a dream he dreams where the high school is dead and stark
It’s a museum and we’re all locked up in it after dark
Where the walls are lined all yellow, grey and sinister
Hung with pictures of our parents’ prime ministers
Wheat Kings and pretty things,
wait and see what tomorrow brings.
Late-breaking story on the CBC,
A nation whispers, “we always knew that he’d go free”
They add, “you can’t be fond of living in the past,
cause if you are then there’s no way that you’re gonna last”.
Wheat Kings and pretty things
let’s just see what tomorrow brings
Wheat kings and pretty things,
that’s what tomorrow brings.
Blister In The Sun
by
When I’m out walkin’, I strut my stuff — yeah, I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite; I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on… like I blister in the sun
Let me go on… big hands, I know you’re the one
Body and beats, I stain my sheets — I don’t even know why
My girlfriend, she’s at the end — she is starting to cry
Let me go on… like I blister in the sun
Let me go on… big hands, I know you’re the one
When I’m out walkin’, I strut my stuff — yeah, I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite; I just might stop to check you out
When I’m out walkin’, I strut my stuff — yeah, I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite; I just might stop to check you out
Body and beats, I stain my sheets — I don’t even know why
My girlfriend, she’s at the end — she is starting to cry
When I’m out walkin’, I strut my stuff — yeah, I’m so strung out
I’m high as a kite; I just might stop to check you out
Let me go on… like I blister in the sun
Let me go on… big hands, I know you’re the one
No Excuses
by
It’s alright
There comes a time
Got no patience to search
For peace of mind
Layin’ low
Want to take it slow
No more hiding or
Disguising truths I’ve sold
Everyday it’s something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin’ by myself
No excuses, then I know
It’s okay
Had a bad day
Hands are bruised from
Breaking rocks all day
Drained and blue
I bleed for you
You think it’s funny, well
You’re drowning in it too
Everyday it’s something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin’ by myself
No excuses, then I know
Yeah, it’s fine
We’ll walk down the line
Leave our rain, a cold
Trade for warm sunshine
You my friend
I will defend
And if we change, well I
Love you anyway
Everyday it’s something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin’ by myself
No excuses, then I know
My Atari
by
Rainy days never brought much fun I played Kerplunk while you set up Mouse Trap Never thought that you’d be the one But technology seems to have changed all that It’s my Atari 2-6-0-0 brand new Game’s galore and its graphics so fine Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders too No shame in losing to a girl each time We were just good friends or so it seemed When the lights went out for optimum view Your eyes would sparkle by the light of the moon You stole my heart and my adaptor too (Chorus) Colecovision, Intellivision, Commodore 64 You pushed reset on my fragile heart When you walked out that door Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 2-6-0-0 You unplugged my joystick forever I should have never let you go The way you caressed my joystick A firm grip at the base Moving your man up and down with such grace And that look of concentration on your face And when the rubber would come free You wouldn’t even flinch You kept on shooting happily While you gripped every bare inch (Chorus) Colecovision, Intellivision, Commodore 64 You pushed reset on my fragile heart When you walked out that door Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 2-6-0-0 You unplugged my joystick forever I should have never let you go That day in July when frustrations ran high I couldn’t get my Pac Man to work Pushed it in, pulled it out how I did try It was driving me beserk And then you took it to your lips so warm and gave it one fantastic blow Which brought it back to working form Then you beat me twice in a row (Chorus) Colecovision, Intellivision, Commodore 64 You pushed reset on my fragile heart When you walked out that door Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 2-6-0-0 You unplugged my joystick forever I should have never let you go And I want my adaptor back!!!!!
